Personalisation is good for business

We are all seeking the most unique and amazing gifts to give this Christmas but with so much choice and mass consumption, it’s hard to find a gift that isn’t owned already or won’t be duplicated. There is only one way to ensure a gift is totally personal and unique and that is to add personalisation and photos to a product. That way the gift is aimed directly at the recipient making it even more special. Here are some of the benefits of offering personalisation for businesses:

There is huge market potential in personalised products. You might think it’s nothing more than some initials on a hand towel but it’s much more than that. A recent survey of over 1,000 online consumers found that less than 10% had previously bought personalised items but 30% of those were keen to do so depending on the product.

The shoppers who did purchase personalised items had some fascinating statistics to offer. They visited websites 67% more and spent a lot longer on those sites because they were more engaged with the company. They were buying products 22% more often and on average, spent an additional 28%. These figures are taken from a 2013 survey conducted by Bain & Company. Therefore, personalisation does well with online shoppers which is great news for companies that specialise in this service such as the range of gifts available from Personalised Lap Trays

The key to personalisation success is not to make the ordering process too complicated. If the design stage is complex or unattractive, customers are likely to abandon the idea. Too many options are another big turn off, so a company must make this process simple, fun and seamless in order to encourage shoppers to engage with designing a personalised item.

When companies engage their customers in customization it raises the engagement level but also raises the stakes of customer expectation. The designing process must be enjoyable, delivery times better than competitors and a returns policy that’s smooth and simple. The secret to success is to keep it simple but find a winning formula that delights customers time and again in an easily repeatable process.

The beauty of personalisation for the consumer is the huge choice on offer of items that can be customized that include but are by no means limited to:

  • T-shirts with special photos, slogans or sports team names for events, hen nights or stag dos.
  • Mugs
  • Calendars
  • Lap trays
  • Keyrings
  • Sweatshirts
  • Mousepads
